Odisha Rolls Out Major Subsidies upto 70% for Solar Power and EV Charging in 2025

The Odisha government has intensified its push for clean energy adoption in 2025 by unveiling generous subsidies for solar power installations and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. The initiative—integrating state offerings with central government schemes—is expected to accelerate both green energy generation and the state’s transition to e-mobility.

For rooftop solar, Odisha homeowners can now access combined subsidies of up to ₹60,000 from the state and up to ₹78,000 from central government schemes under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Eligibility includes MNRE-approved installations and grid connectivity for net metering benefits. These incentives make residential solar more affordable than ever, with further relief offered to farmers installing solar water pumps.

On the EV front, Odisha’s renewed policy provides a 25% capital subsidy for the first 500 public charging stations, reduced energy tariffs for operators, and up to ₹7.2 lakh per battery swapping unit. Private and public landowners setting up charging points are also eligible for incentives. Consumers purchasing EVs can save up to 15% on their vehicle’s cost, with direct subsidies ranging from ₹5,000 for two-wheelers to ₹50,000 for four-wheelers.

With these measures, Odisha aims to dramatically raise its share of solar energy in the grid and achieve 70–80% EV adoption over the next two decades. The state’s forward-looking policies set a strong example for renewable-powered growth and sustainable urban transformation.
